The town of Javea is about 2 km. inland from the port. It is an interesting an thriving town with many shops and offices, a commercial town centre which retains a certain charm.

Javea old town is on the side of the hill. At the highest point you will find a large area opposite the main police station which is used for the market on Thursday and also forms a hub for various events and fiestas throughout the year.
Close by is the old post office it has remained much the same since the 70's despite the growth in population,  the often narrow streets with small shops and Tapas Bars open out into wider areas where you can sit outside.
A little lower down the slope of the town you will find the old church to the left of the photo above and close by is the indoor market hall which opens most mornings for sales of and local food produce.
Prices are good here for fish meat and poultry as well as many other foods.  It is very typically Spanish.
